ASSESSMENT

A careful assessment could mean the difference between PAIN and JOY!  To ensure the most positive church planting experience for all, we assess leaders and their spouses before they start their new ventures. Our goal is to help you gain a powerful self-awareness that will transform you and your ministry in remarkable ways.

Planting a church can be a risky venture! That's why we have a team of experienced assessors to spend time with you to help you evaluate your readiness for this exciting, yet challenging adventure.  For married couples we have an assessment team counselor who specializes in working with couples in ministry.

At the end of the assessment, the team provides you with a comprehensive report detailing your strengths, gifts, talents, preparedness, and areas for growth.  We also give you practical recommendations for ways to turn your growth areas into strengths!

Each of us is dramatically affected by our CULTURE. Therefore, we take ample time addressing your cultural context: To whom will you be ministering? What are the demographics of this community? What are their needs, their challenges, and their dreams? How well-suited are you to connect with these people? As our country becomes increasingly multi-cultural, it is crucial to address these cultural cues and relational ties.

WE OFFER TWO FORMATS FOR ASSESSMENT:

The Behavioral Interview Assessment (1-day)
These assessments can be scheduled as needed. This assessment is conducted entirely on an individual basis with you, your spouse, and two-three assessors. The advantage of this format is its flexibility of schedule.

The Group Experiential Assessment (multi-day)
These are offered several times a year in Houston. Though you will spend one-on-one time with individual assessors, the majority of your time is spent in a group setting along with other church planters and their spouses.  The advantage of this format is the fellowship and group interaction with other couples.  See dates for the Group Assessment below.

All assessments cost $650 per couple, regardless of which format you choose. A deposit of $150 is required to reserve your spot, and the remaining balance may be paid the first day of the assessment. Check with your denomination’s leaders or your sponsor church(es) for possible scholarships. Funds are usually available if needed. Please note that childcare is not provided.

When you complete the packet, return it to us and we will schedule the assessment.  For more details email us.

We have assessed hundreds of church planters, and we currently assess 70-80 prospective planters each year. Many of our participants tell us that their assessment was one of the most eye-opening, life-changing experiences ever. A thorough assessment could truly make the difference between pain and joy!

Group Assessments are scheduled on an as-needed basis.  Individual assessments can be scheduled at anytime!

Plans fail for lack of council, but with many advisors, they will succeed.

But don’t just take our word for it!

“The Church Planter Assessment Process provided by New Church Initiatives is a unique and unparalleled opportunity for potential church planters to receive thoughtful, professional, and experienced feedback on their strengths and weaknesses. Although other instruments and processes are available to determine gifts and identify barriers, the Church Planter Assessment Process brings several instruments, experiences, and group interaction opportunities together in one experience with the single focus of serving the potential church planter and enhancing the planter's ability to plant a healthy, reproducing congregation. The multiple-assessor approach is essential for effectively addressing the diversity of expressions of the church. I recommend it highly. Few, if any, have ever left the Church Planter Assessment Process unchanged.”
